It’s the most wonderful time of the year – and by that I mean the time when 2020 has finally come to an end! While there were certainly some hidden blessings scattered throughout the past year, I won’t pretend that it’s been an easy one, so here’s to new beginnings.
As we ring in the new year, I vote we all take this fresh start as a chance to also ring in a new mindset. My biggest resolution this year is to be more present. We spend so much time thinking about the past, or stressing about the future, that I personally have found I hardly ever take the time to appreciate life as it is now.
I think a big aspect of this is in making an effort to embody an “I get to” attitude. Rather than begrudgingly starting each week dreading our responsibilities, or dragging our feet at the thought of starting a workout, I vote we start looking forward to whatever we can in our day to day. I get to work from the comfort of my home, I get to cook a delicious meal, and I get to do a killer workout, or go for a great run, or do a relaxing yoga flow. There are so many aspects of life that can fly by if we don’t take the time to appreciate them as they happen, so this year, I vote we all do just that.
As strange as the past several months have been, I’m a big believer that there’s always something to be happy about in life. So let’s all make an effort to live this year to the fullest and appreciate each and every day.
Enjoy the present – it’s all we have! Cheers to a new mindset, and a new (and hopefully improved) year! ☼
