Happy 2023, friends! I love fresh starts – new weeks, new months and especially new years! And after enjoying a much needed relaxing week doing mostly nothing, I’m excited to be jumping back into a new and improved routine to start this one out strong.
I usually find that extended breaks like we just had bring some clarity, because rather than getting lost in the day to day I can take a step back and realize what’s working for me – and what isn’t. I honestly felt like I was in a bit of a rut towards the end of last year, getting a bit lazy with my schedule and not being the healthiest version of myself. It’s all about balance and setting time aside for things I love, and there wasn’t as much of that as I would’ve liked lately.
So to kick off the year, I found a list of my 2022 goals, and was pleasantly surprised to see how many of them had been accomplished this past year. It helped me to refocus on what matters most to me, and also put some attention on a part of the new year that’s often neglected. Yes, there’s plenty of positive changes to be made moving forward, but there’s also so much we experienced in the past year that got us to where we are now. I’m thankful for a great twelve months filled with happy memories and new experiences, and I think it’s important to acknowledge that!
Looking ahead, I’m making a conscious effort to get out of that rut I was experiencing over the past few weeks. First things first, I’m focusing on getting my sleeping habits in check (shoutout to my new Hatch alarm clock), so I can hopefully wake up earlier to have more time to myself, and feel better all week long. I want to prioritize activities that make me happy, like writing, exercising, and baking. I want to refocus on my career goals. I want to travel more. These little changes will go a long way in feeling like the best version of myself, and I feel so lucky to be at the start of another year filled with exciting opportunities.
Whatever your goals are for 2023, I hope they include prioritizing what makes you happiest – and don’t forget to appreciate how far you’ve come in the past twelve months. Here’s to the new year, let’s make it the best one yet! ☼
