The leaves are changing, you’ve pulled out your fuzziest clothes, and everything just sort of magically smells like vanilla and cinnamon – I don’t have to tell you that fall is the best time of year. But if you’re hoping to sprinkle a little extra autumnal magic in the air this month, there’s no better way than trying out some new recipes – especially ones that can be enjoyed by the masses. I’ve taken the liberty of tasting my way through MANY options this year and am here to provide some inspiration by featuring a few of my fall favorites below!
Savory Snacks
1. Sweet Potato Chili [GF, VEGETARIAN]. A wonderful take on a classic cozy meal. Starring sweet potatoes and black beans, this is a literal pot of vegetarian happiness perfect for a brisk fall day.
2. Buffalo Cauliflower Dip [GF, VEGETARIAN]. Everyone’s favorite dip – vegetarian edition. Simply toss everything in the crock pot and let the magic happen. It may not be the healthiest, but it’s guaranteed to make your heart happy.
3. HBH Fall Harvest Salad [GF, VEGETARIAN]. Since we already know you’ve gone apple picking at least once recently, grab an apple or two and get chopping. No one makes a salad like Half Baked Harvest, and this one is a delicious way to mix some greens into your diet this season, topped with a dressing that is to die for.
4. Trader Joe’s Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese [Definitely not GF or Vegan]. If you’re looking for something a little easier to chef up, you can’t go wrong with this Trader Joe’s classic. I couldn’t possibly put together a fall favorites list without featuring something from the TJ’s assortment, and my freezer is stocked full of this one all season long.
Something Sweet
5. Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Banana Muffins [GF]. Your classic pumpkin bread, turned into bite-sized morsels of healthy(er) goodness. This recipe is courtesy of Kristin Cavallari’s True Comfort cookbook, free of gluten and refined sugar. But if this version isn’t speaking to you, I highly recommend checking out this one filled with all the classics 🙂
6. Pumpkin Energy Balls [GF]. I’ve been raving about my peanut butter protein balls all year, but like all the wise people say, everything is better with a lil’ pumpkin. So I proudly introduce pumpkin energy balls that are just as good as you’d imagine, and easily made vegan by swapping the honey for maple syrup! They’re the perfect mid-day pick me up for this time of year.
7. Apple Crumb Pie. This one’s a given, but what’s better than baking a good old fashioned apple pie in the fall? I’ll tell you – baking an apple CRUMB pie. And don’t worry, I took the liberty of testing out a few different recipes to find one that hits the (sweet) spot just right. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, there’s no time like the present to get baking!
Sippin’ Through the Season
8. HBH Ginger Apple Moscow Mule. Another Half Baked Harvest recipe topping the charts! My friends and I made a big batch of these this year and they were a unanimous hit. With the perfect balance of apple and ginger, I highly recommend adding this mule to your autumn rotation.
9. Fall Apple Sangria. Last but not least, here’s a fall cocktail that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy all season long. Swirling with flavorful fruit and a whole lot of wine, you can’t go wrong with a classic sangria – enhanced by the cinnamon sugar rim, of course.
Whether you’re hoping to feed all your friends or satisfy your sweet tooth, these are all great staples to enjoy during these magical few months. Maybe even make it a picnic to take in that beautiful fall foliage while it lasts! ☼
