I scream, you scream, we all scream… for smoothies!! No matter what time of year it is, I’m a huge fan of smoothies – especially when you can kind of make them taste like a milkshake. Whether you’re craving a sweet treat or a protein-packed snack, smoothies are the best way to load up on all your favorite things, regardless of what you’ve got going on in your fridge.
I recently branched out from my typical order and discovered a few go-to’s I can make at home for any occasion, so now I am bestowing my new-found knowledge upon you! Without further ado, here’s a few ideas to keep your smoothie recipes feeling ~fresh~ every day of the week.
1: Drink your greens. If you’re looking for a light and refreshing way to start the day off right, look no further. I love this one because it gives me a head start on my veggie intake, tastes amazing, and always leaves me feeling ready to conquer the day.
The magic ingredients: Frozen pineapple, mango, and spinach, any other greens in your fridge (I recommend celery and cucumber), and orange juice or coconut water.
2: The sweet treat. Adapted from my go-to order at the Juicery, this glass of goodness will forever be at the top of my list. It’s got all the staples, and the dates and cinnamon add the perfect extra sweetness that I can never get enough of.
The magic ingredients: 2 dates, almond butter, cinnamon, vanilla yogurt, oat milk, banana and strawberry.
3: Rev up. Last but not least, this one goes out to all my coffee lovers out there. Recharge after a workout or get that mid-afternoon pick me up we all need with this delicious concoction of protein and caffeine.
The magic ingredients: Cold brew protein powder (my new obsession – I just discovered this one which I highly recommend, but chocolate protein powder and an espresso shot will also do the trick), banana, peanut butter, flaxseed, almond milk, and ice.
Once you’ve blended up your masterpiece, top with granola, chia seeds, coconut flakes, and anything else your heart desires. Exact ingredients and amounts vary based on what I might have on hand, so feel free to get creative. And of course, if you’re feeling really crazy, you can always turn your creation into a bowl. Drink (or eat) up! ☼
