Happy almost-Friday! Although the weekend is almost upon us, I wanted to take a second to talk about accountability. We’re officially three weeks into the new year, and we’ve all got big goals to accomplish. But as they say, nothing worth having comes easy. It’s the middle of winter, days are short and cold, and life is busy. I don’t know about you, but these factors definitely make it harder for me to stay on track sometimes. So I’m here to offer some sunshine – in the form of some much-needed mid-week motivation!
Whether you’re hoping to ace an upcoming test or run a marathon, here’s a few ideas to help stay motivated to reach your goals this year.
Make a list of what you want to accomplish this month, this week, and today. I am a HUGE fan of lists. This can help far-off goals seem more attainable, and makes sure you have the right steps in place to get there! Number one on my list this week? To turn THIS list into a blog post!
Put together a good playlist. Whatever it is that you’re hoping to accomplish, having a solid soundtrack can’t hurt, right? And, if all else fails, I find that the Happy Beats playlist on Spotify never disappoints.
Set your alarm 30 minutes earlier. Ever find yourself thinking that there just isn’t enough time in the day? Well I’ve just given you the gift of more time – now go get sh*t done!
Make a vision board or simply visualize who you want to be a year (or even a month) from now. Even just thinking of how happy I could be if I do what I’m hoping to this year is enough to get me off the couch. Let’s manifest it, people!
Make it a double – and by that, I mean a double espresso. I don’t know about you, but nothing gets me going quite like that electric feeling of caffeine coursing through my veins. So why not treat yourself to your favorite coffee (or other caffeinated beverage of your choosing) to kickstart your day!
Cut yourself some slack! We all have our off days, and that’s okay. And we all deserve a day to rest and relax every once and a while, too. Don’t feel bad – just get back on track the next day!
Tell a friend – and better yet, have them join you! Whether you’re hoping to get back on your workout grind, learn a new language, or eat healthier – get a workout or study buddy, or find a new healthy recipe for two to chef up. Make it fun, and make sure someone else holds you to it!
Celebrate little victories. You’re working hard – you should reward yourself for it along the way, however you see fit. Did you cross something off your to-do list that was weighing you down? Or push yourself out of your comfort zone? Go ahead and pop that champagne – you deserve it.
I hope this has helped re-spark some motivation this week. It definitely isn’t always easy, but that will make it even more worth it when we get where we want to go. Have a great (and maybe even productive) week! ☼
