Nothing makes me happier than good food, and in the sweet sweet summertime, there’s no better place to grab a fresh bite to eat than my home state of Maine! I might live in the middle of nowhere, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth a trip to some (or maybe all) of these foodie finds 🙂
Breakfast

Forage Market: For the best breakfast sandwich you’ve ever had, sandwiched between a homemade bagel and rounded out with the true Maine experience complete with all local ingredients, head to Forage Market in Portland.
Blake Orchard Juicery: Right in the heart of the Old Port, don’t miss out on this little hole-in-the-wall spot with the freshest fruit in town. Specifically, I’m talking about the Summer Bowl – it’s hands down the best smoothie bowl I’ve ever had.
Holy Donut: Since you’re already on the block, you might as well make a pit stop and grab the donuts you didn’t know you were missing out on. They’re huge, they’re hand-made from potatoes, and they’re amazing. That is all.
Lunch

The Lobster Shack: A trip to Maine wouldn’t be complete without a lobster roll, and why not grab one right in Two Lights State Park? Lunch with a lighthouse view – what could be better?
The Good Life Market: It would be wrong to suggest any sandwich spot without mentioning the Good Life Club. Nothing could ever top a GLC. Ever. Except maybe The Godmother – if you know, you know.
Sisters Gourmet Deli: It’s cute, it’s funky, it’s another delicious sandwich shop right in the heart of the Old Port known for its homemade bread. The vibes, I dare say, are immaculate.
Dinner

Flatbread: This spot has a special place in my heart, and not just because it’s home to some of my favorite pizza in the world. With an open airy atmosphere, a bar stocked with loads of local beer, the constant warmth of the brick-oven pizza ovens roaring around the restaurant, and an outdoor deck on the water, it’s my go-to spot whenever I’m with family or friends. Pro tip: Jay’s Heart and Casco Bay Community Flatbreads are the way to any girl’s heart.
Fishermens Catch: Another meal, another lobster roll. I know, I know. But if you’re in the area, why not grab one to go and head to Sebago to enjoy the best seafood we have to offer! Try to top a sunset lakefront lobster dinner – I dare you.
Otto: Apparently I love pizza a little too much, but if you’re feeling more adventurous, there’s no better place to go than Otto for anything from a butternut squash and cranberry to a three-cheese tortellini slice.
East Ender: A local, cozy pub feel with the best brussels sprouts you’ve ever tasted – head to East Ender for a good time.
Dessert

The Mosquito: The only place I could possibly recommend for dessert is my town’s local little ice cream shop, with lots of flavors – even for your dog – and a line extends down the block all summer long.
Enjoy! ☼
