Hello friends and happy May! It’s been a minute, and not to be dramatic, but now that we’re back to 8pm sunsets, all feels right with the world. I love spring for many reasons, but mostly because it’s the end of an era – the dark, cold era that is New England winter. And I know, I know, we make the best of it, but spring is springing, and summer is almost upon us – and that is truly music to my ears. I personally am thrilled after feeling more than a tad lethargic for the majority of the winter months, because there’s nothing a little sunshine can’t fix, I always like to say!
This year, I’ve been forced to take more of a backseat as we transition into the season, as the return of my old friend the concussion really forced me to slow down. Typically the warmer weather and longer days has me in a frenzy of activity – post-work runs, closet cleanouts, outdoor dinners and more to truly seize each and every day. But this year, I’ve had a forced reminder of the importance of slowing down and appreciating the little things – being able to go for a walk after work, opening the windows to usher in some much-needed fresh air and the sweet sweet sound of chirping birds, and even quite literally watching the grass (and flowers) grow. April showers bring May flowers, as they say, and I am certainly ready to BLOOM!
Even despite the slow start, the fresh spring air has a magic to it that has me feeling more ready than ever to get back to my best self in the coming months. And whether you’re making the most of it by bopping to every outdoor patio in town or even just stopping to smell the flowers, I hope you can feel a little bit of that magic too. Happy spring and here’s to a great summer ahead! ☼
