Hello friends and happy Monday! It’s been a minute since I’ve taken the time to write, largely because of what I mentioned in my recent post – summertime has been in full swing, and there’s been so much to do with so little time to do it all! I’m simultaneously feeling extremely happy with life lately and stressed by how quickly time is flying by. Having been so busy, I feel like I haven’t taken enough time for myself. So today, with summer sadly winding down, I’m doing exactly that and making sure I actually stop to reflect on all the things to be thankful for right now, and maybe encourage you to do the same 🙂
So without further ado, here is my lil’ summertime gratitude journal – because whether you’re going through a great season or a tougher one, it always helps to look on the sunny side!
- Sunshine. I would be remiss if I didn’t start here. It has been an incredibly sunny summer, and while it was pretty unbearably hot here in Boston for a bit, the weather is finally feeling pretty darn perfect and nothing makes me happier. Everything is better with a lil’ sunshine!
- Friends. I’m feeling so thankful to be surrounded by so many great people. They got me through a rough start to the summer and have helped make it the best one yet – whether taking weekend trips, planning fun activities or playing a little Monday night pickleball.
- Runs. I’ve rediscovered my love for a nice leisurely jog this summer, and have finally decided to run another half marathon for the first time in three years. It’s nice to have a goal to work towards again, and my post-work runs are always one of the highlights of my day!
- My rooftop. Having a palace to enjoy reading, writing, yoga, drinks with friends, and everything in between is such a blessing this time of year. It’s truly my favorite place to be.
- The ocean. Living near the water and being able to enjoy it all summer long is something I hope to never take for granted.
- A home! I chatted this fall about how unsettled I felt having my mom in the process of moving. It was definitely a year with a lot of transitions, and I am so happy to be able to have a place to go home to again, in one of my favorite places – complete with new kittens!
- My job. This last one is a bit bittersweet addition – with so many layoffs happening lately, my own company included, I’ve been feeling thankful to have a job that excites me and has connected me with some really amazing people.
That’s all for today! All I know is I’ve been waking up feeling more energized (and somehow drinking LESS coffee) than I have in a long time, so I wanted to take the time to feel grateful for all the things in my life making me feel that way. Here’s to a great summer and many more things to be thankful for in the future. ☼
